Project Superintendent 

The Superintendent is responsible for providing coordination and supervision over subcontractors and direct labor forces. This role focuses on scheduling installation of all materials, equipment, and inspections to support the project schedule constraints. 


Essential Duties 

  • Review construction documents for completeness and constructability. 
  • Review and understand contract documents and supplemental sources. 
  • Develop and manage project schedule to include six-week look ahead and CPM schedules. 
  • Conduct inspector meetings and have a complete understanding of the project to be able to answer questions. 
  • Review monthly project billings and give input on the percentage complete and progression of the project. 
  • Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies where required. 
  • Report pertinent and requested information to the Project Managers and subcontractors. 
  • Compile daily reports and progress photos of the project. 
  • Implement problem solving skills and create alternatives. 
  • Coordinate with all trades to ensure a consistent and productive workflow. 
  • Provide high level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project. 

Secondary Duties 

  • Conduct on site project orientations. 
  • Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions. 
  • Mentoring of Assistant Superintendents. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 



  • Valid driver’s license required. 
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. 

Experience and Education 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial construction required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Superintendent role, or leadership equivalent, required. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) 

  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices. 
  • Expert skills at safe operation of power and hand tools. 
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Ability to fulfill all responsibilities for complex projects. 
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulatory codes. 
  • Skilled in reading plans for all trades. 
  • Good time management and ability to stay on task. 
  • Understanding of multiple trades of construction. 
  • Ability to navigate the Microsoft Office Suite and PlanGrid. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to physically drive a vehicle. 
  • Ability to move easily and quickly on a jobsite. 
  • Ability to work outside in different weather conditions. 
  • Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs., 1-2 times daily. 
  • May require performing general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. 
  • May require handling and moving objects by using hands and arms in the handling, installing, positioning, and moving of materials and manipulating objects. 
  • Hearing is required to communicate with others to exchange information. 
  • Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing data, operation of equipment, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.  

Working Conditions  

This is an on-site supervision position working in various outside elements. Daily hours may vary with project schedules however typical hours will be Monday through Friday from 6AM to 3PM with routine travel to and from jobsites and some material purchasing and delivery.
